Vanessa’s passion for travel and hospitality began at a young age growing up in Europe and spending any free time she had backpacking and exploring new cultures. She moved to Chicago and began her career with Marriott, then Sofitel, where she led the Guest Services team. Her passion for the water brought her closer to the ocean managing a luxury yachting resort in Newport, but it wasn’t close enough. A few years later, Vanessa took off for a 9-month sail from Georgia through the Caribbean to Northern South America and Panama. After logging 3,000 nautical miles and countless sleepless nights, Vanessa relocated to New York City to oversee The Tillary Hotel. Thrilled to be leading Collective Governors Island, she is combining her love for the water with her expertise in luxury hotel accommodations.

TRAVEL RITUAL:

 

I always want to know where locals go for their coffee. I make a point to frequent the location often, especially if I’m staying in one place. A culture’s morning ritual tells me a lot about a destination and I love getting up early to capitalize on a full day of exploring.
