From its inception, Collective Retreats’ singular goal has been to connect our guests to spectacular natural settings where traditional hotels cannot be built. At Collective Governors Island, Mother Nature is the lifeline of our operations and artificially enclosed spaces are replaced with majestic outdoor landscapes and experiences including two new spectacular tented pavilions ideal for celebratory events and resort activities.

Collective Pavilion – debuting this Summer

Overlooking the Great Lawn, this spacious and versatile tented pavilion is designed to comfortably accommodate an array of unforgettable events including weddings, celebratory occasions, corporate retreats, and workday functions. Expansive glass doors open up and overlook the harbor and skyline. The pavilion can be reserved for private events and is also used as a climate-controlled gathering space for resort activities.

Collective Clubhouse – debuting this Summer

This intimate tented hospitality pavilion is directly positioned to offer unobstructed cinematic vistas of the best view of New York, the Statue of Liberty framed by the Manhattan skyline. The Clubhouse walls open on all sides with HVAC and ceiling fans for warmer evenings. This multi-purpose space accommodates all types of intimate small social and corporate meetings. Retreat guests will enjoy the Clubhouse as the setting for special farm to island dinners and daily wellness activities.

The Great Lawn

Our expansive meadow is the heart of the retreat. Enjoy outdoor moving screenings at night. During the day and sunset, relax with corn hole and other lawn games, or just unwind in a hammock or on our lawn furniture. Kick off your shoes, run your toes through the grass, and enjoy a libation while you take in a spectacular sunset over the Statue of Liberty and the best view of Manhattan and the harbor.

Private Water Taxi Fleet activity

Private Water Taxi Fleet

Guests of Collective Governors Island will enjoy complimentary private evening water taxi service to and from Pier 25 Manhattan. Our USCG-licensed Collective Captains have extensive local knowledge about the waters and ecosystem of NY Harbor. We suggest you wear sneakers or other appropriate footwear, comfortable clothing and a windbreaker. Once on the island, we will provide a VIP cart service to the retreat.  Please, no children under the age of 12.

Island Excursions  activity

Island Excursions

Governors Island feels like a world away, offering a wide array of history, recreation, and acres of expansive park space to wander with some of New York City’s best views. A hub for art and culture, the island hosts a rich calendar of visual art, performances, and educational exhibits. Tours of the island’s historic National Monuments give guests a glimpse into its important place in United States history. A car-free environment, the island is best explored by foot or on a bicycle.

For those who want to spend more time on the water, we also offer a variety of semi-private and private boat cruises on New York’s famed harbor.

Getting Here

As part of your experience at Collective Governors Island, we offer a Complementary Private Water Taxi Service from 4pm – 10pm, every day of the week. The Private Water Taxi service runs from Pier 25 in Midtown and guests may come and go from the Island to Manhattan to enjoy events and attractions in the city as well as on the island.

Private Water Taxis seat up to 6 people. Call 929-207-0020 to reserve your transfers in advance. Guests can also access Governors Island via public ferry (8 minutes from Lower Manhattan and 5 minutes from Brooklyn Bridge Park).

Governors Island is a car-free environment best explored by foot or bicycle. Local airports include Newark International, LaGuardia, and JFK. You can take public transportation or a taxi to the 10 South Street Ferry Terminal or Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. From there, take the Governors Island Ferry.

Governors Island is only accessible via ferry or by Collective Retreats private water taxi service from 4pm – 10pm daily.  Advanced reservations required for private water taxi

 

Manhattan ferries run daily: 10 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. (Mondays – Fridays), and 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Saturdays & Sundays). Link to schedule.

Nearby subway stations: South Ferry – 1 train, Bowling Green – 4 / 5 train, and Whitehall Street – R train

* Once you get to Governors Island, it’s about a 10-minute walk (half a mile) from the ferry to the retreat, so wear comfortable footwear. Please check in at the reception desk at Three Peaks to be directed to your tent.
