Chef de Cuisine - Collective Governors Island
Born just outside of Atlanta Georgia, Owen started in kitchens at a very young age where he took his first job washing dishes at the local bagel shop. Years later, after graduating culinary school, Owen went on to help Chef Kevin Gillespie open the first two restaurants of his restaurant empire, Gunshow and Revival. Hungry for more, Owen headed north to Chicago to work in Michelin starred kitchens, and while also learning the art of bread baking under James Beard Award Winner Greg Wade at Publican Quality Breads. Wanting to expand his knowledge of food and beverage, Owen moved on to work in hotels where he found a deeper love for hospitality, leading culinary teams in both small boutique getaways, and luxurious historic landmarks. Owen said goodbye to Chicago in 2019 to take on the greatest food city in the world, where he helped Oxalis earn their first Michelin star in their first year open.
My travel rituals consist of always following my nose when deciding where to eat, and to also pack plenty of snacks in my carry on bag.
