James Barlia is a Vice President at Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, where he joined in 2020 and is responsible for sourcing, performing due diligence, and supporting portfolio companies. At Rise of the Rest, James has been involved with a number of investments, including AcreTrader, BookOutdoors, Recurate, 86 Repairs, and several more. Prior to joining Revolution, James was an Investor at Greenspring Associates, a venture capital firm in Owings Mills, Maryland. At Greenspring Associates, James was responsible for sourcing and due diligence efforts on direct, fund, and secondary investment opportunities. James specialized in expansion-stage direct investing, where he was involved with the firm’s investments in Outdoorsy, Postman, and Viagogo, and more, as well as emerging and impact manager investing. James graduated from Tulane University with a B.S. in Management from the A.B. Freeman School of Business. He was born and raised in Washington, D.C.
