What are the standard rates?
Rates may vary based on dates, availability and accommodation type. The standard rate for our double occupancy luxury tents starts at $400 per night (excluding tax) for either a king bed or two single beds. What is included?
Included in your stay for a luxury tent reservation is the following:
- Summit Tent accommodations for two guests with king bed or two single beds—a rollaway bed may be added to a Summit Tent at an additional cost of $100
- Children under 6 may sleep in the king bed with their parents at no additional cost
- Private, custom-designed en-suite bathroom with full-flush toilets, rain-style hot showers, and beautiful sink and vanity spaces (see below for more information)
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner options available for purchase
- Coffee, tea, hot cocoa, refreshments, and filtered water provided in your tent and refreshed throughout the day
- Complimentary gourmet s’mores
- Turkish spa towels and robes
- Environmentally friendly luxury bath amenities
- Personal concierge services prior to and during your stay
Included in your stay for a Family Suite reservation is the following:
- A Summit Tent with a king bed (a rollaway bed can be added upon request for an additional charge of $100 per night)
- 1,500 thread-count linens, down comforter, and designer-curated blanket
- Electricity and ample bedside sockets to charge gadgets
- Wood-burning stove for heat
- Private, en suite bathroom with rain-style shower, full flush toilet, and hot running water
- A Journey Tent with two single beds (due to space limitations, no rollaway beds may be added to a Journey Tent)
- 1,000 thread-count linens, down comforters, and designer-curated blankets
- Electricity and ample bedside sockets to charge gadgets
- Wood-burning stove for heat
- Shared bathroom with Summit Tent’s private, en suite facility (50 feet away from Journey Tent)
- Coffee, refreshments, and filtered water in each of the tents
- Nightly s’mores kits for the evening campfire
How many people can stay in each tent?
Summit Tents: Our luxury tents with either king bed or two single beds are double occupancy. We can add a rollaway bed to Summit Tents with king beds for an additional $100 per night. Children 6 and under are welcome to share a bed with a parent at no extra cost. Due to space limitations, a rollaway bed cannot be added to Summit Tents with two single beds.
Family Suite: Our Family Suite offering can accommodate up to 5 people. 2 adults + 1 child (or 3 adults) may sleep in the Summit Tent, and two children in the Journey Tent adjacent to the Summit Tent. A group of five adults may not book this offering—maximum adult occupancy is 3. This offering includes everything that a stay in a Summit Tent includes: complimentary evening s’mores kits, as well as personalized concierge services for dining and activity planning.
Are children allowed?
Yes, Collective Hill Country is a great getaway for families! There are many family-friendly outdoor activities, including hiking, educational walking tours, and ziplining.We can add a rollaway bed to Summit Tents with king beds for an additional $100 per night. Children 6 and under are welcome to share a bed with a parent at no extra cost. Families may also want to explore our Family Suite offering.
Can I bring my pet?
We love pets and welcome dogs under 50 lbs. on-retreat and in your tent (well behaved and leashed, please). Starting January 1, 2019, a $50 pet fee will be charged per reservation per pet at Collective Hill Country. For example, if you bring 2 dogs, you will be charged $100 (# of nights do not matter). We ask that you let our concierge team know ahead of time if you will be bringing pets with you. Pets must stay on the retreat property and not visit the surrounding Montesino Ranch grounds. Please note, dogs must be leashed when they’re not in the tent, and for safety reasons, cannot be left unattended in the tent at any point during your stay.
What are the bathrooms like?
Each luxury tent is connected via private walkway to your own custom-designed bathroom. The bathrooms are housed in adjoined canvas tents, with full-flush toilets, rain-style hot showers, and beautiful sink and vanity spaces. There are thick Turkish towels and robes in the tent, as well as environmentally friendly luxury bath amenities in the bathroom.
Are there bugs and wildlife?
The tents are outdoors, so we cannot guarantee you won’t see any bugs. However, we do have bug foggers available upon request, which help minimize the chance of insect encounters. The safety of our guests and team is our top priority, and our staff will educate you on our safety guidelines and practices when you arrive should you encounter any wildlife. Collective Retreats also does pest control on a frequent basis.
What will the weather be like?
Hill Country weather can be unpredictable at times but summertime generally brings warm temperatures with bright blue skies during the day and cooler evenings. It can be humid if there is a rainstorm, but we provide fans in the tents on hot days, and with the rain comes pleasant temperatures. In the fall and winter, temperatures drop slightly and it can be chilly during the day and especially at night, and later in the season. The tents stay warm with the wood-burning stove and plush down comforter on the bed. We recommend checking the forecast for Wimberley, TX prior to your arrival and bringing waterproof footwear and warm outer layers to account for potential swings in temperature and precipitation. We’ll also send you a packing list prior to your arrival.
How do I get to Collective Hill Country?
Collective Hill Country is located just 45 minutes from Austin and one hour from San Antonio, outside the charming town of Wimberley, Texas. We’ve included these simple step-by-step directions to make your arrival a breeze.

What is the alcohol policy?
Beer and wine are available for purchase at the retreat.
When should I book?
Because space at Collective Hill Country is limited, we suggest you book at least 3 months in advance—or more if you are looking to visit on a holiday weekend or peak time. Our reservations team is always available to help answer any questions prior to booking, or look into availability for you. How long should I stay?
Most of our guests choose to stay for 3-4 nights, but we welcome you to stay as long as you’d like! Our concierge can help design a customized trip for you at any length of stay. Please note, we have a 2-night minimum stay for standard weekends and a 3-night minimum stay for holiday weekends.
What time is check-in and checkout?
Check-in is at 2 p.m. and checkout is at 11 a.m. Check-outs later than 11 a.m. will be charged for an additional night. Our concierge team will be in touch close to your arrival date to confirm your arrival time.
What time of year should I visit?
Collective Hill Country is open annually for nine months of the year, September-May. There are benefits to all parts of the season, depending on what you’re looking for.
What should I pack?
We furnish our tents with plenty of creature comforts, including games, books, and luxury bath amenities. After you book, we’ll be in touch with a Guide to Collective that includes suggestions on what to pack. Some of the important items for spring and fall include warm outer layers and waterproof footwear. The weather can vary, so you will be much more comfortable if you are prepared with the appropriate clothing and footwear. In general, the weather is gorgeous, but it’s always good to pack the right items. We suggest checking the weather a day or two prior to your arrival. Also, don’t forget your camera, travel journal, a hat, sunscreen and a good book to read while you enjoy your morning coffee.
How many tents are there?
Each retreat is unique and ranges in size, but all are designed to provide you with a peaceful, intimate getaway. The tents are located approximately 100-150 feet apart to allow for a relaxing stay for you and your fellow guests. While we encourage you to meet the other guests at our evening campfire, this is your experience and you can choose to interact as much or as little as you’d like with our staff and guests.
What are the dining options?
For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we have a variety of a la carte options for purchase. For breakfast, we offer a wide range of dishes, from hearty omelettes and pancakes to wellness-focused options like yogurt and homemade granola. During lunch, we sell to-go picnic boxes that include sandwiches and snacks. In the evenings, you can choose to book our nightly farm to table dinner, which is served under the stars and features a three-course menu of seasonal local dishes, or go with a more casual BBQ-in-a-box option.
We request that all lunch and dinner reservations are made at least 48 hours prior to arrival, and all farm to table dinners booked at least two weeks in advance. Our team is happy to help you make your choices and confirm your reservations—please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
We can accommodate for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free diets, however we are not a kosher establishment. Please let us know in your reservation request of any dietary restrictions so our chefs can prepare to accommodate and deliver you an exceptional dining experience. Without advanced notice, substitutions may not be available at the time of your reservation.
What kind of activities are there?
As part of the Collective Retreats experience, we introduce you to the best activities and sights that the location has to offer. We’ve personally scouted out the best trails, the best activity providers, even the best sunrise spots—and want to share it all with you. Because of that, you can be assured that we can design the perfect itinerary for you, no matter your style or preference.
Nestled in the heart of Texas Hill Country is the Wimberley Valley. Surrounded by many beautiful natural attractions, there are plenty of relaxing activities and adventures to enjoy. Walk along the Blanco River or swim at the nearby Blue Hole Regional Park. Taste some of Hill Country’s finest wines and explore local vineyards right in our backyard. Enjoy a scenic horseback ride or zipline high above the juniper trees for a 360-degree view of the countryside. For a delightful evening activity, head into town to tour an art gallery or enjoy one of the many touring art shows or theater productions traveling through Wimberley.
Can you accommodate large groups?
We’re happy to host large groups. Whether you’re looking to book several tents or interested in a partial or full buy-out, our team can help make arrangements. For overnight accommodations, we can host a maximum of 20 guests (10 adults and 10 children) at Collective Hill Country.
