Introduction to the Company and Role:

Collective Retreats is a venture-backed, high-growth company that operates asset-light, moveable hotels in unique destinations. We are a premium hotel management company, operating high end “glamping” resorts though luxury canvas tents with beautiful décor and amenities — focusing on delivering authentic, local experiences for our guests with service on the level of what you would find at a 5-star hotel. Our properties are a diverse range of venues – including ranches, organic farms, real estate developments, and private land – that are strategic partners set in beautiful locations.

We are seeking a resourceful, creative business development candidate to join the property development team at Collective Retreats. The primary function will be to expand and build out the strong property pipeline within Collective Retreats portfolio, and execute agreements with new property partners in desired locations. The work will require research and direct targeting/cold-calling, responding to inquiries from individuals interested in partnering with Collective Retreats, travel to review different properties, setting deal terms and negotiating contracts with new property partners. In addition, this individual is responsible for securing all necessary permits and entitlements for the development of a Retreat, including working at the town, county and state level to ensure land use/zoning, construction, and health and safety permits are approved. This person will work independently, reporting into the Director of Property Partnerships/Business Development, and will collaborate with the construction/logistics, marketing and operations teams to ensure the successful opening of future Retreat locations.

The ideal candidate is experienced in business development and managing contracts, especially within the hospitality sector. This person has negotiated different deal structures, and has excellent stakeholder/relationship management skills. Ideally the candidate is experienced in working with local government authorities and identifying responsible agencies for securing operational and construction related permits. This person must be willing to travel approximately 50% of their time.

Responsibilities:

  • Source new properties and expand existing pipeline for Collective Retreats
  • Structure deal terms for new properties, working alongside the Director of Property Partnerships and the CEO and COO of Collective Retreats
  • Draft and review contracts
  • Evaluate properties against specific rubrics, including both qualitative and quantitative metrics, and local code requirements
  • Review competitors at the national and local levels, and maintain competitor database
  • Support the construction/logistics and operations teams to ensure all permitting requirements are met for the successful and timely opening of each new Retreat location
  • Travel to review new properties, meet with property owners, and attend local permitting meetings

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years previous experience structuring deals and negotiating contracts
  • Experience with hotel contracts and the luxury hospitality sector preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professionalism, and ability to manage different stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent research skills and attention to detail
  • Experience navigating local permitting and entitlements, including
  • Ability to find creative solutions to problems, and not afraid to make informed decisions
  • Hard-working, enthusiastic, flexible – desires new challenges and is self-motivated
  • Strong team player and collaborator – acts as an integral member of the team, keeping other members informed as well as assisting other colleagues as required
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to property partner requirements
  • Extremely well organized with a strong ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Requirements for Employment:

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license

Compensation & Perks:

  • We offer a competitive cash compensation package, with the unique opportunity to earn option grants over time
  • Health benefits, including medical, vision and dental coverage
